Noroton firemen have been working hard the last few weeks, maintaining their profiencies through training during the frigid cold temperatures we have seen the past month.
Last week, Noroton, in conjunction with the Noroton Heights FD, held a joint drill, focusing on power saws. This training is vital and may be used in a variety of situations, including fire incidents as well as complex rescue incidents.
The week before, Noroton held an “ice water rescue” drill, where members donned exposure suits and simulated saving a victim who has fallen through the ice. Safety, speed, and effiency were stressed, as hypothermia will set in rapidly in these conditions.
